2014 Beneath the Waves Film Festival

Unknown-4“2014 Beneath the Waves Film Festival – Santa Cruz” on Saturday, June 7th from 11am to 5pm at the Monterey Bay Sanctuary Exploration Center.  The event is free and is in celebration of World Oceans Day.
·         Thirty short (2-15 minute) student, amateur and professionally made ocean-related films from the US and around the world will be shown throughout the day at the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary Exploration Center on June 7, 2015.
·         Sanctuary Superintendent Paul Michel, and some of Monterey Bay’s top scientists and policy makers including Dr. Gary Griggs (UCSC), Dan Haifley (O’Neill Sea Odyssey) and Ivano Aiello (Moss Landing Marine Labs) will be on hand for Q and A about some of the most pressing issues in our oceans today.
·         From ocean trash and plastics to sea level rise and climate change, these films will highlight the need for public participation and taking personal action to protect our oceans.

·         “Blue Journey – American Samoa:  Stronger Together: The Waterman’s Way” (11 minutes) by filmmaker Bruckner Chase; (Bruckner Chase Ocean Positive, Inc., with a grant
from the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation).
