Tiny Valentine
For my very first grandchild
Blue eyes twinkling like her dad’s
Smiles with her mom’s full lips
My valentine sits briefly
On wobbly hips
Long chubby fingers
Reaching for a dangling toy
Giggles, gurgles and coos
Are full of dazzling joy
Such a moving miniature bundle
Of surprises and delight
Fill my heart with immense love
For such a dimpled sprite
A day bursting with wonder of
Bottles, naps and stroller jaunts
Overpowering my senses
And dismissing all other wants
Left behind are daily chores
Of much less important tasks
Of work place musings
Or whatever anyone else asks
With chubby arms up to be held
To be fed or even to play
My tiny valentine beckons
To delightfully fill my day
