2016 Open Studios Artist Applications Open

Arts Council Santa Cruz County is now accepting applications for its 2016 Open Studios Art Tour. Each year during the first three weekends in October, more than 300 Santa Cruz County artists open their studios to the public for demonstrations of the artistic process, art exhibits, and opportunities for visitors to purchase art directly from the source. The tour includes multi-stop studios and individual workspaces throughout the county.

Through this program, artists are connected with art appreciators. Artists are promoted to the public through the Open Studios Artist Guide (last year’s distribution: 40,000 copies), mobile app (350+ downloads), $25,000 in advertising, and other print, digital, and social marketing channels. 89% of participating artists rate their Tour experience as “Fantastic” or “Satisfying.”

In hopes to broaden the reach to younger artists, Arts Council is waving the $40 application fee for artists ages 18-25.
