33rd Annual Capitola Art & Wine Festival

September 12 & 13, 2015 • Saturday 10 AM – 6 PM & Sunday 10 AM – 5 PM • Capitola Village

Summer’s last hurrah, the Capitola Art & Wine Festival features the exquisite works of over 160 fine artists, wine tasting from 23 Santa Cruz Mountain wineries, gourmet food from local restaurants, a Kid’s Art Area for the budding young artists, and fabulous entertainment all weekend including funky grooves from Extra Large, and red hot rockin’ soul from The Fundamentals. Kids of all ages will enjoy street performances from The Great Morgani – Accordionist Extraordinaire and The Surfing Magician. Energetic performances from local dance groups including Aptos Academy of Performing Arts, Te Hau Nui Tahitian Dance, Dancenter, and Elaine’s Dance Studio will get the crowd in “get up and dance” mode. New Orleans jazz and zydeco from St. Gabriel’s Celestial Brass Band, marching bagpipe band Santa Cruz Pipes & Drums, and lively Americana folk music from Black Sunday Roadshow add to the weekend’s entertainment lineup. Visit capitolaartandwine for the complete schedule.

Artistic talent ranges from exquisite jewelry to metal sculpture for the home, intricate blown glass, handcrafted leather goods and woodwork, water color and oil paintings, photography, and everything in between. Local artist Maia Negre created the serene artwork for the 2015 Festival poster, which will be available at her booth along the Esplanade. A Merchandise Booth, also on the Esplanade, will carry Festival t-shirts, tote bags and commemorative labeled wine, all featuring Maia’s stunning poster artwork.

With 23 exceptional wineries in one location, deciding which to taste is your only challenge. Purchase a 2015 Festival wine glass from one of the six Glass & Token booths conveniently located throughout the Festival. Tasting tokens are $1 each, with wine tastings varying between 2 – 4 tokens depending on the wine of your choosing. This year’s participating wineries are 37th Parallel, Alfaro, Armitage, Bargetto, Beauregard, Burrell School, Chaucers Cellars, Domenico, Hallcrest, Heart O’ the Mountain, Hunter Hill, Martin Ranch, Naumann, Nicholson, Pelican Ranch, Roudon-Smith, Silver Mountain, Sones, Soquel Vineyards, Storrs, Trout Gulch, Villa del Monte, and Zayante.

After tasting a variety of wines throughout the Festival, you can stop by the Wine Buy the Bottle booth on the Esplanade, and purchase your favorites to take home. Many wines are limited release, and only available for purchase at the Festival.

New to the Festival this year is a Local Food Artisans Marketplace located behind the Mercantile building between Esplanade and San Jose Avenue. You will find locally made products such as jams, honey, chocolate, gourmet rice crisp bars, organic cotton candy, coffee, cider vinegar, olive oils, organic body products, soy candles, and more.

Capitola Village is filled with restaurants for every taste, and charming boutiques to satisfy a shopper’s dream. Stroll the Festival sipping exceptional wines and admiring artistic talent.
