On September 5, 2013, the Santa Cruz County Alcohol and Drug Abuse Commission will be holding a community celebration of recovery from substance abuse. This event is being held as part of National Recovery Month, and will bring together people in recovery and people concerned about substance abuse to show that recovery is possible and is rewarding. The agenda will include speakers, presentation of the annual Robert E. Neff award for outstanding contributions to the field of substance abuse recovery in Santa Cruz County, refreshments, and a raffle.

The Alcohol and Drug Abuse Commission is a 10-member volunteer body appointed by the Board of Supervisors to advise the Board and the County Alcohol and Drug Program on alcohol and drug abuse issues through participation in the planning process, development of the goals and policies of the County Alcohol and Drug Program, public education, and review of legislation.
