will be held on Friday, September 19, from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Kennolyn Hilltop Hacienda, 8400 Glen Haven Road, Soquel, CA. The much-anticipated fundraising event will feature dozens of models from Santa Cruz County who are cancer survivors.

The Gala event is more than a fashion show, dinner and silent auction. Every year the participants inspire a loyal crowd wearing the latest in elegant fashions from local merchants. It is however, the spirit on the runway and personal stories of survival, which create a magical evening.

This year, the American Cancer Society is honoring Watsonville Chief of Police Manny Solano. As police chief, he has served the Santa Cruz County Community with dignity and respect for 26 years. Off-duty, Solano is active in the community serving on the Board of the Pajaro Rescue Mission, and as a Watsonville Rotarian. Throughout the evening, the Santa Cruz County community of survivors, family members, loved ones and supporters will applaud the bravery and courage he has displayed during his battle with cancer, and will continue to believe that he will be victorious.

The Garden of Hope Fashion Show Gala’s Honorary Chair is Patricia (Pat) Rebele, who, along with her husband Rowland, is an active community volunteer and financial supporter of various arts, educational, and charitable institutions, among them the Homeless Services Center in Santa Cruz, which includes the Rowland and Pat Rebele Family Shelter.

Pat is a three-time cancer survivor. The American Cancer Society is grateful for the Rebele’s extraordinary commitment to supporting this important event, which funds necessary patient services for more than 1,125 cancer patients in Santa Cruz County each year, and which also funds groundbreaking cancer research in an ongoing effort to find a cure.

The event’s Platinum sponsors include California Giant Berry Farms, and Rowland and Pat Rebele. This year’s event will feature a wine reception and performance by the Santa Cruz Symphony String Quartet. Local cancer survivors will model fashions from Cinnamon Bay Clothing Company, The Hat Company of Santa Cruz, Macy’s, Men’s Wearhouse, Patrick James, and Queen’s Shoes and more.

Cancer strikes one out of every three Californians during their lifetime. The community’s support of the annual Garden of Hope Fashion Show Gala provides much needed funding to save lives and create more birthdays by helping people stay well, helping people get well, by finding cures, and by fighting back against cancer.
