Animal Origami Party at Watsonville Public Library

Motyl_-_origamiSaturday, April 12 from 1 – 3:30 p.m., Main Library

Starting April 1library to support the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter.

As an early celebration of the Watsonville Public Library’s Summer Reading Program, Paws for Reading, which will begin in June 2014, the library will be hosting an arts and crafts event aimed at teens, tweens, and families. Patrons can expect activities appropriate for younger children, as well as a variety of origami animals to make and create larger pieces of art. This program will be held in the Meeting Room, on the 2nd floor of the Main Library.

Beginning April 1, the Watsonville Public Library will begin collecting items needed by the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter. Old towels, blankets, animal food and toys, cat litter, etc. can be donated to support the animals being cared for by the shelter. For every item donated the patron will be entered into a raffle for a special gift basket donated by the Friends of the Watsonville Public Library. The winner will be announced in August of 2014. There is no limit to the number of items donated.

Each year the Watsonville Public Library hosts a summer reading program, designed to help children and teens maintain their literacy levels throughout the summer. Since our theme this year is Paws for Reading, the library will be supporting several animal-themed programs and events throughout the summer of 2014.
