Aptos All League: Teams and Players

2015 Aptos Girls Soccer Team Rocks!

The SCCAL Champions placed three players on the All-League roster for 2015, Player of the Year mid-fielder Stephanie Buecheler, Defender of the Year Kelsey Kusaba-Kusumoto, and Goalkeeper of the Year Ana Calero. In addition their coach, Jessica Perkin was named Coach of the Year. Altogether they filled four slots on the first team, two positions on the second team and three in the honorable mention column for a total of eleven players. Congratulations on a great season and great accomplishments.

Ben Dorfman Voted SCCAL Boys Basketball MVP

The 6-foot-3 senior forward was recognized as a major factor in Aptos winning the Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League regular season title when League Coaches voted him the SCCAL’s Most Valuable Player. Dorfman averaged 12.66 points, 7.42 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 3.3 steals and .83 blocks for the Mariners in its 12 league games. The Mariners finished 11-1 in league play losing only to San Lorenzo Valley. Santa Cruz won the SCCAL Tournament by defeating Aptos in overtime.

Dorfman suffered a dislocated knee in preseason play on Dec. 5 and missed the next five games, before returning Dec. 23 against Alisal a game in which he scored 20 points. His coach, Joe Smith, was named SCCAL Coach of the Year. Dorfman’s teammate, Aptos senior point guard Jonah Gonzales, also received first-team recognition.
