Aptos High Interact Club Comes Through!

Over 37,000 meals donated to Second Harvest Holiday Food Drive Unknown Sponsors, School Leaders and Interact Club members gathered on Monday, December 16 to present their donation to this year’s Second Harvest Holiday Food Drive. The results of all the hard work of the Interact Club were donations of both cash and food amounting to over 37,768 meals. Club members collected donations for the past two months at Aptos football games, local shopping centers, on campus and in classrooms. Interact Club Advisor and Social Science Teacher Thomas Whitwam put on his game face and challenged other faculty members and administrators to give generously to the cause of fighting hunger for the less fortunate. The Interact club is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Capitola-Aptos whose president Doug Deaver was there to acknowledge the club member’s accomplishment along with Aptos High Principal Casey O’Brien, ASB Activities Director Peggy Pughe, Teachers Shuntelle Emanuel and Brian Tumminelli. There to accept the results of all the hard work of the Interact Club were Willy Elliott-McCrea, Chief Executive Officer and Steve Bennett Development Director of Second Harvest. The dress code for the day at Aptos High was pajamas, which accounts for the unusual attire for both students and teachers.
