A whale carcass, identified as a juvenile gray whale by observers, showed up on Platforms Beach in Rio Del Mar on Wednesday. No cause of death has been identified.
Official agencies joined with Santa Cruz lifeguards to moved the body off the beach.
UPDATE: As of August 12, California State Parks was still working to remove the remains.
