Big Creek’s County Fair Charity Raffle Fundraiser

Davenport, CA – Big Creek announced the beneficiaries for their annual County Fair charity raffle fundraiser: Ag Against Hunger, Teddy Bears with Heart and Native Animal Rescue.

Consistent with this year’s Fair theme; Sew it, Grow it, Show it, a stunning garden starter set has been crafted using local redwood and will be raffled at the Fair which includes a double-bin composter, bench with built-in flower boxes, raised flower bed with trellis, and 2 small planter boxes. All money from raffle ticket sales will be given directly to the charities.

Janet Webb, President of Big Creek Lumber explained, “Since our company’s inception helping our community has been a priority and is ingrained in Big Creek’s culture and roots. This is what we do and we are excited to continue our tradition this year at the Santa Cruz County Fair”.

All three charities have expressed thanks for the fundraiser, “Teddy Bears with Heart is honored and excited to be partnering with Big Creek Lumber. Their willingness to help bring comfort to children in crisis, the terminally ill and the forgotten elderly is much appreciated by all who will benefit from their generosity.  We are so excited about the Redwood Garden Set, it is a beautiful work of art that we hope will sell many raffle tickets for all the nonprofits that Big Creek is generously supporting,” stated Susie Hanson Executive Director of Teddy Bears with heart.

Marissa Ritter, Community Relations Coordinator for Ag Against Hunger said, “We were thrilled to be selected as a beneficiary for Big Creek Lumber’s fundraiser at The Santa Cruz County Fair this year. The Redwood Garden set they have crafted is beautiful and would be a stunning addition to anyone’s yard. With every dollar that is donated to Ag Against Hunger through this fundraiser, we will be able to distribute 25 pounds of fresh produce to food banks and local schools. Every dollar counts and we really appreciate the support.”

Eve Lupin, Director of Native Animal Rescue said, “Native Animal Rescue wishes to express sincere thanks to Big Creek Lumber for selecting us as one of the recipients of this year’s raffle proceeds. We appreciate the compassionate awareness of management and staff for their desire to direct funds toward the care of our local injured and orphaned wildlife.”

Last year over $7,400 was raised and it is hoped that this year’s raffle will raise even more. Big Creek will also provide an additional fundraiser by selling its items at the Fair at cost, with 10% of sales being divided between the three charities.

The Fair opens Tuesday, September 9 and runs through Sunday, September 14. This unique garden starter set can be found at the Big Creek Lumber booth, located next to the livestock area. For more information on the Santa Cruz County Fair, visit www.santacruzcountyfair.com
