Cabrillo College Hosts Memorial Celebration of Kathryn McBride’s Life

The late ceramics instructor and artist Kathryn McBride, who passed away in late February, will be remembered with a video tribute and a “memory sharing” open mic on Sunday, April 22 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM, at the Cabrillo Horticulture Center.

McBride, a beloved teacher and head of the ceramics department at Cabrillo, taught for over 20 years in the Bay Area. Her works are exhibited in museums and private collections across the country, including the Ferrin Gallery in Massachusetts, The Museum of Art History in Santa Cruz and the Cantor Arts Center at Stanford University. Her sculptural teapots can be found in several books including: 500 Teapots, 500 Figures and Teapots Transformed.


The Cabrillo Foundation has established two funds in honor of Kathryn McBride: The Kathryn McBride Cabrillo College Ceramics Program Fund (to support the ceramics instructional program at Cabrillo College) and The Kathryn McBride Scholarship Fund (to fund art scholarships for Cabrillo College students).
