Santa Cruz County District Attorney Jeffrey Rosell announced July 28 that criminal charges were filed against Hagan Warner and Brandon Bochat for vandalizing the Black Lives Matter mural in downtown Santa Cruz.
The charges are Felony Vandalism, in violation of Penal Code Section 594, and a special allegation of a Hate Crime in commission of that vandalism. Both defendants appeared in court with attorneys and pled not guilty to the charges.
The case continues to be fully investigated with the help of the Santa Cruz Police Department.
