Children’s Day at the Felton Farmers’ Market

Santa Cruz, CA – The Felton Farmers’ Market continues its annual tradition in hosting Children’s IMG_1341Day – a festive event to celebrate the little ones in our lives. On June 14th, during the standard market hours (2:30-6:30pm), this free event spotlights Freesia Raine, a local children’s song writer known for her creativity and ability to connect with young people. While listening to sing-along songs like “Love Makes a Family” and “There’s a Bird in the Kitchen”, guests can visit different kid-focused activity stations at the market. Mountain Feed and Farm Supply joins us for strawberry shortcake making and tasting and fun, fruit snack creations with kids and adults alike. Local groups including the Mountain Arts Center will be heading up children’s activities and holding open enrollment for summer programs. While kids plant seedlings and get their faces painted, parents can learn more about fun, summer educational opportunities for their children in the Santa Cruz County region.

With over 25 years under its belt, the Felton Farmers’ Market is a celebrated staple of the San Lorenzo Valley. As we get deeper into the season and the variety of fruits and vegetables expand with long days and warm weather, remember that the Market connects residents with regional growers from the mountain towns. In addition to the special festivities of Children’s Day on June 14th, week in and week out the Market delivers a robust selection of organic vegetables, fruits, herbs, eggs and flowers. Joining the farmers are some of the best food artisans in our area. Make sure to visit the Penny Ice Creamery with small batch ice cream, Roli Roti and their rotisserie chicken, the Cremer House with pickled veggies and all the other offerings of the market – coffee, fresh breads, seafood, pasture raised meats and eggs, pastries and other ready-to-eat cuisine.
