Plantronics donates $2,000 to the Ozzi Dog Park
CAPITOLA—The City of Capitola received a $2,000 donation from Plantronics, Inc for the Ozzi Dog Park on McGregor Drive.
The City has funded the installation of basic park infrastructure, including: ADA accessible paths, porta-potties, water service, parking and fencing. Funding for each specific recreation element, such as skateboard ramps, water fountains, dog park and pump track, was not funded by the City and therefore the donors were needed.
Capitola Mayor Sam Storey noted that, “Partnerships like this with local business provide such a win for our community. This thoughtful donation by Plantronics will help the City provide a wonderful new dog park for everyone to enjoy.”

The McGregor Dog Park was named after Joshua Laven’s dog, Ozzie. Two years ago, bicyclist Joshua Laven was killed in a hit-and-run accident on Highway 1 near Wilder Ranch. Laven’s dog Ozzie which was in the crate attached to the bike, was found by his side by a Capitola couple when they came upon the accident. Laven was riding with his beloved dog Ozzi, from Massachusetts to California. Laven’s mother, Jenifer Putnam established a reward fund in hopes that someone would come forward with information. Unfortunately that reward was never claimed, and the reward fund was donated for the Dog Park.
