County 4-H Launches Paper Clover Fundraiser

Participating Local Businesses to Accept Tax Deductible Donations April 5 to 19

SANTA CRUZ, CA – Today, Santa Cruz County 4-H announces its Paper Clover Fundraiser supporting youth programs in the community. Fundraising efforts kick off on Saturday, April 12, from 11 am to 2 pm at Scarborough Ace Hardware in King’s Village, Scotts Valley, with an event allowing members of the community to meet 4-H participants and learn about some of the cool projects and programs they participate in. On Saturday, April 5, from 11am to 2pm there will be a preview event at General Feed and Seed in Santa Cruz.

From April 12 to April 19 participating local businesses will accept donations of any amount right at the register, with all proceed benefitting local 4-H programs. Look for posters at the participating business locations: Scarborough Building Supply in Boulder Creek • Scarborough Home Center in Ben Lomond Scarborough Lumber in Scotts Valley • Scarborough Ace Hardware in King’s Village Scotts Valley • Mountain Feed in Boulder Creek • Felton Feed • Scotts Valley Feed • West Side Farm and Feed and General Feed and Seed in Santa Cruz • Hansen’s Feed and Corralitos Feed in Corralitos • are all generously participating.

When most people hear 4-H, they think about livestock. But 4-H is actually a sophisticated youth development program with learning projects ranging from mountain biking and underwater robotics to sewing and folk guitar in addition to agricultural projects like gardening or raising dairy goats. Santa Cruz County 4-H helps youth aged 5 through 19 develop skills, confidence, citizenship and leadership in a gender and age inclusive environment.

4-H is an all-volunteer led program that serves hundreds of youth on a shoestring budget. There are currently 4-H clubs in Boulder Creek, Felton, Scotts Valley, Soquel and Corralitos with one soon opening in Live Oak.
