COVID Death Toll Reaches 73 in County

Tuesday’s data from the Santa Cruz County Public Health show three more COVID deaths in the past four days, bringing the total to 73 fatalities: 74 percent had underlying conditions, 70 percent were residents of nursing homes or care homes for the elderly, 67 percent were age 80 or older, and 53 percent were women.

For those seeking testing, a new state-sponsored site opened Dec. 21 at the Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium, 307 Church St., Santa Cruz. No walk-ins are allowed. To make an appointment, go to lhi.care/covidtesting. Hours are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m
