Description of Incident:
On 12/12/13 at approximately 1:30pm, a local resident reported to 911 that it appeared that there was an unknown deceased person in the ocean near the pier at Seacliff State Beach.
Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office, State Parks, State Parks Life Guards, Santa Cruz Harbor Patrol, and Aptos/ La Selva Fire Department responded to the area of the report and determined that a person of unknown age, sex, or race was in the ocean at Seacliff State Beach. All agencies coordinated to recover the decedent. The deceased person was taken to the Santa Cruz County Coroner’s Office for examination.
