December Tryouts Announced For Santa Cruz County Breakers Youth Soccer Club

girls and boys players can receive professional coaching and year-round soccer training

SANTA CRUZ — The Santa Cruz County Breakers, the county’s nationally recognized soccer club providing boys and girls with year-round professional soccer training, announced today tryouts for boys’ and girls’ teams will be held in December at Cabrillo College.

Breakers is recruiting enthusiastic players who seek development, want to take their skills to the next level and want the best coaching available in a structured, competitive environment. The club offers a pathway for such players to continue developing from their earliest soccer experiences to the university level and beyond – all under the guidance of nationally-licensed, professional coaches.

Tryouts are open to players currently participating on recreational or competitive teams. All players are invited to come learn about Breakers, meet the coaches and tryout without any commitments and at no cost.

Girls Teams

Tryouts for girls ages 6-10 will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, and Saturday, Dec. 13 at Cabrillo College Stadium. Please arrive 15 minutes early. If your player cannot make the date, contact the coach of the team in your child’s age group, and the coach will make arrangements to have your child come to a practice to be reviewed and train with the team. In the event of rain, please check http://santacruzbreakers.org/for-parents/tryouts for updated information.

Girls interested in the U12-U18 teams should contact the coach of the appropriate age group team to be invited to attend a training.

Boys Teams


The Santa Cruz Breakers Pre-Academy and Junior Academy programs provide players with high-quality training year-round. Teams are coached by USSF “A” licensed coaches and former professional players following the US Soccer Federation’s curriculum. Players will play against the highest competition available and in some cases, will have the opportunity to travel and play internationally.

Tryouts for Junior Academy, boys born from 2005 through 2008, 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, and Saturday, Dec. 13 at Cabrillo College Stadium. Players should attend both sessions. Please arrive 15 minutes early to each tryout. Pre-Academy training sessions/tryouts for boys born in 2001 through 2004 will be held from 5:15-7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, Dec. 2-11 and Jan. 6 to Feb. 26.
