del_sol335The Santa Cruz Chamber Players present the Del Sol String Quartet in concert on Sunday April 12, 4 p.m. at Peace United Church, 900 High Street, in Santa Cruz, California.

The San Francisco based Del Sol String Quartet, two-time winner of the top Chamber Music America/ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming, is breaking the boundaries of classical music with riveting performances of new music with a global pulse. The quartet brings the voice of living artists to diverse communities and makes contemporary chamber music a dynamic a part of today’s culture.

This concert will feature the world premier of Aptos resident and Cabrillo College Faculty member Josef Sekon’s string quartet “ADENDO.” The composer writes, “ADENDO is a one movement, 12 minute work that was completed in December, 2013. The work alternates between virtuosic, angular moments that serve as a counterpoint to the more tranquil, absorbing textures that blend and interchange with each other.” Music by Lou Harrison, Lembit Beecher, Huang Ruo and Elena Kats-Chernin will also be performed.
