The Santa Cruz Sheriff’s Office opened recruitment for Deputy Sheriff’s Trainees (Entry Level) April 25th at 4:30 p.m. In little over one week, we have received over 300 applications for the position. This is the first time in three years the Sheriff’s Office has accepted applicantions for “entry” level candidates. We are excited about the large number of those infividuals interested in serving the County of Santa Cruz. 
Santa Cruz County is the largest agency in Santa Cruz County with 350 employees. The Sheriff’s Office employs highly motivated individuals whose desire is to become community orientated problem solvers. Deputies are held to the highest standards of professional conduct, which is essential to maintaining the trust of the community they serve.

Prospective candidates will be required to pass written and physical tests as well as an in depth background investigation. If an applicant is selected then they will attend a local police academy representing the Santa Cruz Sheriff’s Office.
We are also accepting applications from those persons currently enrolled in a police academy.
