Eduardo Montesino Chairs RTC

Watsonville City Council member Eduardo Montesino, a supervisor for Santa Cruz Metro bus service, will serve as chairman of the Santa Cruz County Regional Transportation Commission in 2025.

Santa Cruz County supervisor Felipe Hernandez of Watsonville was voted to continue aa vice chairman.

The RTC is the agency with a mission to develop and deliver transportation solutions for a vibrant, sustainable and equitable community.

The 12-member commission consists of five members from the Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors, one member each from the Watsonville, Santa Cruz, Scotts Valley and Capitola City Councils, and three members appointed by the Santa Cruz Metropolitan Transit District.

Supervisor Zach Friend and Bruce McPherson did not seek re-election. Neither did Scotts Valley Mayor Randy Johnson or Santa Cruz City Council member Sandy Brown.


Capitola Mayor Kristen Brown was termed out.

So there will be new faces in 2025.

The January meeting was canceled so the first meeting of 2025 will be at 9 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, in Watsonville City Council Chambers, 275 Main St., Watsonville.

The Caltrans District 5 Director serves as an ex-officio member of the commission.
