Erik’s Deli Cafe Gives Back to Help Local Food Banks

SANTA CRUZ – Erik’s Deli Cafe’s July slogan is “Feed Yourself, Help Feed the Hungry.” For the entire month of July, each of it’s 33 independently operated DeliCafes across Northern California will donate a portion of sales from eight featured june items to local food banks.

“it’s important to Erik’s DeliCafe that the money donated from each DeliCafe stayed in that particular location’s community, so we’ve partnered with food banks in the individual stores’ communities to continue the company’s history of giving back,” said Tony B. Bendana, C.O.O. of Erik’s DeliCafe. “Hunger and malnutrition is an issue that impacts so many people in the communities we serve and we want to do our part to help.”

Erik’s DeliCafe is delighted to partner with the following six local Food Banks; including the Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Cruz County, Food Bank for Monterey County, Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano, Alameda County Community Food Bank, Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties, and Placer Food Bank.

The Featured Erik’s DeliCafe menu items will include, four “Sandwiches with Character,” two wraps and two turkey Entree Salads. One of the featured items include an Erik’s DeliCafe favorite, the Pot Belly, made with turkey breast, pastrami and monterey jack cheese, loaded on sliced sourdough with red onions, tomatoes, and sprouts.

Unknown-1Steve Bennett, Community Relations Director at Second Harvest Food Bank Santa Cruz County, said, “We are thrilled that Erik’s DeliCafe is giving back to local food banks in the 6 counties where they have locations and especially at this time of year. Here in Santa Cruz County, though the economy has improved for some, a large portion of the Ag and hospitality community, continue to struggle to make ends meet. The donations we receive from Erik’s DeliCafe will help fund our programs as we head into fall.”

There are six Erik’s DeliCafe locations in Santa Cruz County including Aptos, Capitola, two in Santa Cruz, Scotts Valley and Watsonville.
