Community Invited to Science Expo Saturday, October 11 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

APTOS, CA – Cabrillo College and the Cabrillo College Foundation invite the Santa Cruz County community to a free Science Expo on Saturday, October 11 at the newly renovated Baskin Engineering, Physics and Computing Center on the Cabrillo College Aptos campus, 6500 Soquel Drive, Aptos.

JNC DIGITAL CAMERAThe event will provide an opportunity to explore the Baskin Center and participate in a dozen hands-on experiments and displays for all ages, that feature Cabrillo’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) programs. During the Science Expo, participants of all ages will be able to:

Hot dogs, chips, and drinks will be provided to guests and during the event, attendees can participate in a raffle for an Apple® iPad Mini™.


The Peggy and Jack Baskin Foundation donated nearly $900,000 to support the renovation and preservation of the Baskin Center, which features an expanded and improved facility, as well as targeted program support for Cabrillo’s STEM students. The Science Expo is being held to honor Peggy and Jack Baskin and to showcase the STEM programs at Cabrillo College.

“I have an engineering background, and it is the basis for where I am today,” said Jack Baskin, Co-Founder of the Peggy and Jack Baskin Foundation. “I think the renovated Baskin Center will be an excellent addition to the curricula at Cabrillo, one that helps students be successful and provides graduates with a very optimistic employment prospect.”
