Full Closure of Highway 9 on Feb 12

One-Day Only south of Highlands Park near Ben Lomond

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY — Crews will be closing and paving a 1 ¼ -mile section along Highway 9 from south of Highlands Park to Scenic Way near Ben Lomond, Caltrans officials have announced.

Roadwork at this location will consist of the full closure of Hwy. 9, for one day on Friday, Feb. 12 from 8 am to 5 pm with a 10-15 minute traffic delay anticipated, which is the amount of time needed to take the detour along Glen Arbor Road. (see map below).

Electronic message signs are posted alerting motorists of this closure. The CHP will assist with traffic control. Motorists can use Glen Arbor Rd as the detour/alternate route.


Note: Local residents and travelers will still be able to access Highlands County Park, Highlands High School, the Senior Center and Daycare located within this closure.

The purpose of this maintenance project is to increase the lifespan of this section of roadway. Paving is being performed by the Caltrans Saratoga Gap Maintenance crew.

Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down when driving through highway work zones.
