By Magi Ruiz – Volunteer Coordinator
On Saturday July 25th, we went out to the railroad corridor on State Park Drive in Aptos to remove graffiti and trash. We were joined by eleven volunteers from the La Selva Beach Community Church and one young woman that came all the way from Westside Santa Cruz to help out. Together were able to remove all graffiti along the back side of the Coastlands Church wall in under two hours!
Thank you to all the volunteers that came out and made this clean up a success! We had one volunteer at our most recent paint out that we want to specially thank and honor for his work in the community. Tom Clarke is a member of the La Selva Beach Community Church and has helped us get volunteers to three separate projects. He has been an advocate and avid supporter of the Graffiti Removal Project and all community clean-up efforts. Thank you Tom for your work and for always giving back!
New Volunteer Coordinator!
Paige will be starting as the Volunteer Coordinator in mid August, giving me at least a week to work with her and get her up to speed on how the Graffiti Removal Project works. She just finished a year of AmeriCorps VIP service at the Young Writers Program in Santa Cruz and is excited to join the Graffiti Removal team.
Thank you Graffiti Removal Project volunteers! It was awesome working with all of you! – Magi Ruiz
