Highway 1 Drainage Installation in Santa Cruz

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY – A short daytime closure for surveying of the Hwy. 1 southbound #1 (left) lane and the Hwy. 17 # 2 (slow) lane to the Hwy. 1 connector in Santa Cruz will occur on Tuesday, June 17 from 9 am to 1 pm in preparation for drainage installation on Monday, June 23.

Roadwork consists of the #1 (left) southbound lane of Hwy. 1 and the southbound Hwy. 17 to southbound Hwy. 1 connector. This closure will also require the closure of the Hwy. 17 southbound Pasatiempo onramp. Overnight work hours starting June 23 are Monday through Thursday from 9 pm to 6 am. Motorists can expect a delay not to exceed 10 minutes. Work is expected to be complete by the end of July.

The purpose of this construction project is to install additional drainage on southbound Hwy. 1 between Emeline St. Overcrossing and Carbonera Creed Bridge near the Fishhook.

The contractor for this $200,000 project is Graniterock Construction of Watsonville, CA.
