Highway 1 Overnight Traffic Camera Installation Project in Aptos

From Aptos to Santa Cruz work begins Monday

 

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY – An overnight project to install traffic cameras along six miles of Highway 1 from Freedom Blvd. in Aptos to Soquel Drive in Santa Cruz will begin Monday night, July 28 at 9 pm, Caltrans officials have announced.

 

Overnight work hours are:

Northbound:  Sunday through Thursday from 9 pm to 5 am

Southbound:  Sunday through Thursday from 9 pm to 6 am

Northbound:   Friday from 11:30 pm to 5 am

Southbound:  Friday from 11:30 pm to 6 am

 

No traffic delays are anticipated since no lane closures are required, but motorists should be aware of work crews in the area. Installation is expected to be complete by the end of October.


 

The purpose of this overnight project is to install traffic cameras as part of our overall Closed Circuit Television System which monitors real-time traffic on state highways throughout California.

 

The contractor for this $366,000 project is Bear Electrical Solutions of Alviso, CA.

 

 

Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down when driving through
