Highway 17 Overnight Work To Include Lane Closures

Culvert rehabilitation work along Highway 17 north of Santa Cruz will result in overnight lane closures, Sunday through Friday, for the next two weeks.

This winter preparation project will take place from Sunday Oct. 25 through Friday Oct. 30, and again from Sunday Nov. 1 through Friday Nov. 6.

Work crews will be active overnight along Highway 17 at these three Post Miles:

Northbound motorists on Highway 17 will find a closure of the right lane at these locations, from 8 pm to 5 am.

Southbound motorists on Highway 17 will find closure of the right lane at these locations, from 9 pm to 7 am.

There may be occasions when this culvert work will require closure of the left lane, when work is required on the drainage inlet at the center median.

Motorists can expect delays of up to 15 minutes.

This culvert rehabilitation work involves a process which introduces resin and steam into culverts to create a contiguous liner inside the culvert. Billowing steam may appear around these worksites.

Electronic message signs will be activated to inform the public about this roadwork.

Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down when driving through highway work zones.
