John and Robin Fuchs, two active members of the Aptos community, have owned and operated John Fuchs Properties: Construction & Real Estate for over 30 years. Fuchs’ success sprang from humble beginnings and proves that from humble beginnings can come great things. A family man, John invited me to his office in Rio Del Mar for an interview where I was met at the door by his wife Robin and his daughter Taylor-Jean. One of the most positive and outgoing people you’ll meet, John’s sincerity and honest love for his community and neighbors is contagious. It doesn’t matter what mood you are in when you enter, you always leave John’s office a little brighter.

Since the beginning, John’s hallmark has been custom home design and building providing quality, competitive pricing and personalized service to each and every one of his clients. The Fuchs consulting headquarters is located at 758 Rio Del Mar Blvd in a beautifully remodeled house originally built in 1929. The warm colors, and traditional California architecture creates a polished and professional environment for John to conduct consultations, explore plans with his clients, and make their dreams a reality.

“We’ve been serving Santa Cruz for over 30 years,” said Robin, who is responsible for the bookkeeping and accounting side of the business, “And we are honored and grateful to the community for supporting us through the good and the bad. We’ve had to be creative through rough economic times, but persevered by staying positive, innovative, and exploring growth in both construction and reality opportunities.”

John is working to offer his clients a fuller line of services in 2014 by adding a successful Silicon Valley real estate broker and business coach, Nancy Knuth (O’Boy) to round out his winning team. They have partnered to become NK & Fuchs Coastal Properties.. They are a full service real estate brokerage Nancy  brings over 15 years of real estate market experience with Keller Williams and as a Santa Cruz native, has a combined local and Bay Area perspective which appeals to many of our clients,” said John.

“Because of the breadth of our services, we are able to offer our clients exceptional assistance from start to finish,” said Nancy. “And because John is a builder, he can offer his unique perspective, allowing us to  help both buyers and sellers make good decisions in these often difficult markets.”

John is also a very active member of the community volunteering as Vice President for organizations including Trips for Kids, a local organization that strives to empower youth through mountain biking. John likes to build what the client wants — whether it’s a contemporary modern home or a Carmel cottage – he prides himself in making dream homes for his clients and loves doing it. When asked what his “dream project” would be, John said, “ I’d love to build a church someday. A place where the community comes together.”

John has kept a fresh perspective and high level of enthusiasm for his work over the past three decades and thinks the secret to this success is passion for your work. “If you do what you love you will never work another day in your life. I do what I love and I care about this community and enjoy improving it one house at a time.”
