Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter
Partners with Local Animal Welfare Organizations to
Find Homes for the Kittens and Cats in Our Community
On August 24, 2013, Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter (SCCAS) will host its 3rd Annual “Meow Luau” Kitten and Cat Adoption event at SCCAS’ Santa Cruz shelter, 2200 7th Avenue, from Noon to 400 p.m. The goal of the event is to adopt cats and kittens into new homes during the busy summer season when there are many homeless animals entering shelters.
This event is a joint partnership between SCCAS and local animal welfare organizations Animal Shelter Relief (ASR) www.animalshelterrelief.org and Project Purr www.projectpurr.org. SCCAS and ASR will have kittens and cats on site available for adoption and Project Purr will be seeking garden/barn homes for semi-social cats and kittens and will also provide resources and information on their trap, neuter, return (TNR) program.
Participants are invited to come to Santa Cruz County’s largest animal shelter to meet beautiful cats and kittens available for adoption. During this event, all kitten and cat adoption fees are only $50! All adoptions include spay/neuter, microchip (including registration), age appropriate vaccinations and Felv/FIV testing, routine treatment for fleas/worms, and a free pet wellness exam with local participating veterinarians. Also, there will be a featured performance by Michelle Kiba’s Ukulele Academy & the Fab Five Hula Sisters. Showtimes are at Noon and 1:00 pm. Additionally, refreshments, raffle prizes, and an “Ask-the-Vet” booth by Dr. Evelyn Sharp of My Personal Vetwww.mypersonalvet.com will be available at the event.
