New CASA Board Officers take the helm

Ocean researcher Susan Coale assumed duties last week as President of the Board of Directors of Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Santa Cruz County. Coale succeeds Dr. Kent Thompson, a retired pediatrician, who remains on the executive committee for the coming year. Joining Coale as new officers; vice president Marilyn Koll, a realtor with Sereno Group; treasurer David Davis, financial planner; and secretary Mary Shartle, marketing/communications manager for Smeenk Construction.
CASA is a community-supported nonprofit organization serving children in the local foster care system who have been neglected or abused. CASA’s trained volunteers help support and speak up for children to ensure their emotional, physical and educational needs are met during their time in the dependency system.  To learn more, visitwww.casaofsantacruz.org.
