Cancino has held senior management positions with programs as diverse as senior support services, family services, a family emergency shelter and a youth center. He managed a multimillion dollar budget for Catholic Charities CYO San Francisco, a multiservice nonprofit serving families and seniors. He has a broad range of experience working with collaboratives, developing new funding sources, and building programs from the ground up. In addition to his management experience, he’s been a case manager in a family services center, as well as served as union president of SEIU 1021 at Catholic Charities CYO. He is also fluent in Spanish.
Former CEO Sam Storey left the agency to pursue a private law practice in July 2013 after 29 years with Community Bridges including 14 as CEO. The Board of Directors, with input from the nonprofit’s Management Team, conducted an extensive search and intensive process to fill the position. Cancino will be only the fifth person ever to lead the 36-year-old nonprofit.
