New Life Community Services Hires New Executive Director

NewLife_TL-large New Life Times Publishing Group Inc tpgonlinedaily.comThe Board of Directors of New Life Community Services announced the appointment of Dr. Thomas Lucking to serve as the Executive Director for New Life Community Services effective July 1.

The Board selected Dr. Lucking because of his breadth of experience and education. Dr. Lucking has an extensive background in mental healthcare, business management and computer science and has a Bachelor’s Degree in computer science from Saint Anselm College; a Master of Divinity from the Jesuit School of Theology; a Master of Arts Degree in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University where he specialized in Human Behavior, Personality, and Counseling; and a Ph.D. in East West Psychology from California Institute of Integral Studies. He completed his Ph.D. dissertation research on the effects of digital technology on human well being.

Dr. Lucking is a practicing therapist who has created and successfully implemented a therapeutic modality, “167 Therapy,” which focuses on extra-therapeutic empowerment. Dr. Lucking has worked in Christian ministry, hospital chaplaincy and media, and has served as a Corrections Counselor. He serves as a Lay Deacon for Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Soquel.


Dr. Lucking has spent his career solving computer software problems and pursuing questions of human life through psychological and theological lenses. He has worked for large technology companies like Microsoft and Texas Instruments and private non-profit corporations including counseling centers and churches.

New Life Community Services (NLCS) has been serving a wide variety of people in need in the Santa Cruz community for over 40 years. We are a private, non-profit organization operating a state-licensed alcohol and drug treatment facility for both residential and outpatient clients. NLCS is located at 707 Fair Ave, Santa Cruz, CA.
