PIP Construction Will Change Travel Patterns On Hwy 101 Through Salinas

MONTEREY COUNTY – On Monday, May 13, Caltrans and Granite Construction Company and MCM Construction, the joint venture contractors for the Prunedale Improvement Project, will be switching traffic on northbound HWY 101 on to a new alignment that will take the traffic over the Russell/Espinosa intersection in North Salinas.

The traffic switch, which will happen after 10 p.m. on May 13, will significantly affect drivers on northbound Hwy 101 who need to access Espinosa Rd.

The detour from northbound HWY 101 to Espinosa Road:

This detour will be in effect from the night of May 13 through the night of Wednesday, May 22.

On the night of Wednesday, May 22, Caltrans will switch the southbound HWY 101 traffic on to the new Russell/Espinosa overcrossing.

When all traffic is moved up and over the Russell/Espinosa intersection, vehicles will be able to use either the new Sala Road Interchange or the Boronda exit to get to Russell Rd. or Espinosa Rd.

These traffic pattern changes will be in place throughout the summer.
