Public Park Seeks Private Sponsors

The new park will have three components; skate park, dog park and bike park. In an effort to meet the needs of the community, each of these elements is to be enjoyed by users of all ages.

The plan calls for a 9,500 square foot bike pump track on the north end of the property, kids’ play area, seating area visible from all locations, a 10,300 square foot skateboard park fronting McGregor Drive and a 12,500 square foot dog park located in the rear of the property. Parking for 30 vehicles will be at the southern portion of the lot with a gated entrance. The City will fund and install the basic infrastructure; ADA accessible paths, porta-potties, water service, parking and fencing.

Funding for completing eac h area, such as skateboard ramps, water fountains, and pump track, will to come from a combination of private donors, sponsors and possible grant money.

In order to make this park a reality the City is seeking donors.

Donors who are able to make significant contributions will have the opportunity to name an element of the park, have a sign at the entrance with their name or logo, a park bench with a bronze plaque or a sponsorship sign on the surrounding fence. Capitola McGregor Park Donation And Sponsorship Program

Skate Park

$50,000 – Platinum: Naming rights to the skate park at McGregor, permanent stand alone sign at the entrance to the skate park with donor name and logo. The acknowledgment sign will be relocated if the park is relocated. The donor name and logo on the City’s website for seven years, listed in the City newsletter and City TV scroll.

$15,000 – Gold: Permanent sign at the entrance to the skate park with the donor name and logo (listed with other donors). The sign will be relocated if the park is relocated within seven years. A fence sign, the donor name and logo on the City’s website for seven years, listed in the City newsletter and City TV scroll.

$10,000 – Silver: Permanent, individual sign on the fence surrounding the skate park with the donor name and logo, listed on the City’s website, and recognition in City newsletter and City TV scroll. The sign will be relocated if the park is relocated within seven years.

$5,000 – Bronze: Park bench with a bronze plaque.

Maintenance Sponsorship: $3,000 Annually. Sponsor will have a 4’ x 4’ fence sign with name and logo.

Bike Park

$25,000 – Platinum: Naming rights to the bike park at McGregor, permanent stand alone sign at the entrance to the bike park with donor name and logo. The acknowledgment sign will be relocated if the park is relocated. The donor name and logo on the City’s website for seven years, listed in the City newsletter and City TV scroll.


$10,000 – Gold: Permanent sign at the entrance to the bike park with the donor name and logo (listed with other donors). The sign will be relocated if the park is relocated within seven years.

It is the intent of the City to accept donations of goods, services, or funding for McGregor Park, granted by businesses, nonprofit organizations, or private citizens. City staff will review the conditions of the donation and determine if the benefits to be derived warrant the acceptance of the donation.

City staff will work with the donor on the selection and construction of the acknowledgement signs with final approval by City staff based on pre-approval by the Planning Commission. Memorial Benches will be composed of recycled plastic with a bronze plaque, selected by City staff, wording for the plaque will be selected by the donor. Fence Signs will be no larger than 4’ x 4’.
