School District Board to Meet Saturday About Dealing With COVID-19

The Board of Trustees of Pajaro Valley Unified School District has called an emergency meeting for 9 a.m. Saturday, March 14, at the district office in Watsonville. The topic is review and discussion of COVID-19 district protocols.

The first COVID-19 confirmed case at a public school in Santa Cruz County was at Rio Del Mar Elementary School in Aptos, which is part of the Pajaro Valley school district. The person who tested positive was placed on quarantine, and the school was closed March 12-13 for cleaning, after which the superintendents of all school districts in the county decided to close all schools for a week, March 16-20.

Because of the county Public Health Division’s social distancing guidelines, the public can comment only via email, and comments must be submitted before 9 a.m.

Comments will be read aloud by Holm, who is vice president/clerk of the board, and they will be limited to two minutes apiece.
