PVWMA Celebrates Success of Recycled Water Delivery

Pinto_Lake-400Watsonville, CA – Pajaro Valley Water management Agency (PVWMA) operators recently announced that they had delivered a record 4,000 acre feet of high quality irrigation water through the Coastal Distribution System during the 2013 growing season. The supplemental irrigation supplies come in part from the Recycled Water Facility (RWF), a joint project of the PVWMA and the City of Watsonville, which has been producing water for delivery to Pajaro Valley farmers along the Monterey Bay coast.

The delivery of 1,303,404,000 gallons (4,000 acre feet) marks an important milestone for the project and the PVWMA plans to toast this achievement with a pouring of locally produced bubbly this Thursday afternoon. The toast will celebrate the commitment of the PVWMA Board of Directors, hard work of the system operators, cooperative spirit between the agency and city of Watsonville, and the vision of the growers who signed up to take this new water.

Those who wish to share in this achievement are invited to the party planned for Thursday, December 19, 2013 at 3:30 PM. Just look for the group of smiling water warriors on the short stretch of Clearwater Lane between West Beach Street and the RWF main gate.
