Santa Cruz County Evacuation Center moved to Fairgrounds

Cal Fire has initiated mandatory evacuations for the Loma Prieta ridge line area, including all tributary roads along Summit Road from Soquel San Jose Road to Ormsby Fire Station. This includes Uvas Canyon County Park, Loma Chiquita, Casa Loma, Loma Prieta Way, Highlands Road and Mount Bache Road. Portions of Croy Road are also under an evacuation warning.

Evacuation centers include the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds, 2601 East Lake Avenue, Watsonville; Jewish Community Center of Silicon Valley, 14855 Oka Road, Los Gatos; and Morgan Hill Presbyterian Church, 16970 De Witt Avenue, Morgan Hill.


Firefighters from all over Santa Cruz and Santa Clara counties continue to aggressively fight the Loma Fire, which has continued to spread as of the morning of Tuesday, September 27. It is currently burning in the Mt. Loma Prieta, Mt. Chual and Uvas Creek area.
