Santa Cruz Crushers Capture NorCal State Title

The Santa Cruz Crushers 12UC Summer team had a spectacular summer, winning the 12C state title at the USA Softball of Northern California Championships.

The Crushers finished 4-0 in the 10-team division, outscoring their opponents 54-27 during the June 26-28 tournament at Legacy Fields in Tracy.

Santa Cruz opened with a 17-1 victory over the Screaming Eagles and followed that with an 11-7 win over the West Valley Slammers. Santa Cruz then overcame an early deficit to defeat Millbrae Mischief 10-9. The Crushers saved their biggest rally for the championship game against Windsor Wicked. Trailing 10-6 in the fourth inning, Santa Cruz scored 10 runs on seven hits to take a 16-10 lead.

The team was coached by Django Whittington, Zak Warren and Darryl Williams.

The Crushers are the competitive program of Cabrillo GALS Fastpitch Softball, a volunteer-run league for girls ages 5-18 throughout Santa Cruz County. Registration for the 2027 spring recreational season opens in March at cabrillogals.com.
