On Tuesday, April 29 at 7:30 PM, the author will give a book talk and sign copies at Bookshop Santa Cruz, 1520 Pacific Avenue, in downtown Santa Cruz.
Punctuated with some wonderful photographs, the book tells the stories of outlaw surfers, revolutionary boaters, Jack O’Neill’s dredge rescue, Jack London’s tale of a voyage that ended in a small river boat shelter, and the fight against a 50 year continuous river of sand that clogs its channel. “This book contains some unique stories and dramatic photos that will delight readers,” Haifley said. In the book’s Foreword, Port Director Lisa Ekers says: “The stories in this collection tell the reader of the harbor’s history, its roots and its evolution.”
The book can be purchased at Bookshop Santa Cruz, Crossroads Books in Watsonville, the Santa Cruz Yacht Club, the SUP Shack at the harbor and through O’Neill Sea Odyssey’s website at www.oneillseaodyssey.org, go to “Supporters” then “Shop”. Proceeds will benefit O’Neill Sea Odyssey’s free, ocean-going science and environmental education program for area students.
