Second Annual Run For Rio

APTOS  – The Rio del Mar Parent Alliance, a non-profit organization of volunteer parents and community members supporting Rio del Mar Elementary, announced today its second annual Run for Rio, Saturday, September 14 at Seascape Village, Aptos. The run is a fun community event open to all – promoting good health while providing needed funds to Rio del Mar Elementary.

Registration starts at 7 am and the 5k begins at 8 am, rain or shine. The registration fee is $30. Family rates for 5 are $120. Day of event registration is $35.

Runners and community members are invited to return to Seascape Village Fitness and Physical Therapy for the post-run award ceremony, raffle, family activities and for delicious treats from Seascape Foods. All fitness levels are welcome. Run for Rio is designed for the whole family to enjoy.

“The mission of the Rio Del Mar Parent Alliance is to enrich the educational experience of our students through community events as well as raising funds for critical programs while also promoting health and well being for our school community.” said Desiree Stilwell, President of the Rio del Mar Parent Alliance. “This fundraising event raises needed funds to continue enhance our students and provide support to our teachers and curriculum.”

Proceeds from the run will directly benefit Rio del Mar students by funding many vital programs, including computer technology, reading/math/language enrichment, art programs, and curriculum materials.

Seascape Village Sunday, September 14. The 5k starts at 8 am. Prize ceremony starts at 9:30 am.

Parking: Street parking is available. If you live in the surrounding neighborhoods, please consider walking to the park to minimize traffic.

Course:  Starting at Seascape Village, the course winds throughout the surrounding neighborhoods. T-shirt pick up, goodie bags, race results and prizes will be held at Seascape Village Fitness and Physical Therapy, approximately 9:30 am. Seascape Foods is providing a post-race fuel station.

5K Entrance Fee: $30.00 – individual; $120.00 – groups of 5. T shirts and goodie bags guaranteed for the first 325 participants
