Second Chance for Sammy

POTW_Sammy Sammy Times Publishing Group Inc tpgonlinedaily.comThe Santa Cruz SPCA strives to provide second chances and that is exactly what was given to Sammy, an 8-year-old Poodle mix. He was scheduled to be euthanized at another shelter due to a mild heart murmur but was rescued in the nick of time. An otherwise healthy dog can lead a long and full life with Sammy’s condition and we wanted to allow Sammy the chance to do exactly that!

This boy is the perfect companion for an active senior or someone looking for a laid-back and affectionate partner to share their life with. Sammy enjoys daily walks, basking in the sun, sitting on laps, and playing with stuffed animals. He gets along well with other dogs, walks nicely on a leash, doesn’t mind cats, is polite with children and is over-all quiet and well behaved.

Sammy is about 12 pounds and easy to pick up and move from here to there. He can jump up onto a chair or couch and maneuvers stairs with ease. Because of his breed mix, he does not shed but will require regular grooming. His heart condition does not require any medication but should be monitored by a vet during routine exams.

Sammy is quite the little gentleman who will make his new family feel just as lucky as he does! The Santa Cruz SPCA is a 501c3 charitable organization and receives no government funding, relying solely on public donations to run its many programs that benefit the animals and people of our community.
