Shakespeare Lives in Aptos

Everything You’ve Always Wanted to Know About King Lear!

“How sharper than a serpent’s tooth it is to have a thankless child!” Act 1, scene 4

Three times a year a group of Shakespeare lovers gathers at Christ Lutheran Church from 10 a.m. to noon to study one of Shakespeare’s plays. This next 5-week session starts on Oct. 4 and ends with a viewing of the play and a potluck at a member’s home on November 1st.

WILLIAM-SHAKESPEAR_2122089bEach session begins with a presentation by a well-respected Shakespearean scholar followed by members taking parts and reading an act of the play.   The list of distinguished speakers includes UCSC Professor Emeritus Michael Warren (Oct. 4th); Santa Cruz Shakespeare Co-Artistic Director and well-known local actor Mike Ryan (Oct. 11); and UCSC Professor Emerita Audrey Stanley (Oct. 25). The October 18th session expert speaker is not yet confirmed.
