St. Philip the Apostle Episcopal Church June 21 – June 23
Scotts Valley Performing Arts Youth Shakespeare Program brings Shakespeare’s (in)famous “Scottish Play” to Scotts Valley. Macbeth is directed by Gina Marie Hayes, from Shakespeare Santa Cruz. Guest artist Justin Tandy will join young actors. Justin hails from UCSC and has also acted at Shakespeare Santa Cruz.
The play has something of interest for everyone. Original music composed by Emily Intersimone creates the perfect accompaniment for this psychological – supernatural – drama. Shakespeare’s “Scottish” play is one of history’s most durable dramatizations of what we would call today, “the slippery slope.” Macbeth is lightly seasoned with special effects, exciting action, witches or if you prefer “wild women,” and meaningful themes for audiences of all ages.
St. Philip the Apostle Episcopal Church will be transformed into an intimate theater for this stirring performance. The play runs from June 21 – June 23 with four performances; Friday June 21 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday June 22 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and Sunday June 23 at 2 p.m.
