She’s Darling!

POTW_DarlingHer name really couldn’t fit any better! Darling, a 12-year-old longhair Dachshund, is quite possibly one of the sweetest dogs we’ve ever had the chance to meet. She’s gentle, kind, and. well, darling! This sweet girl was originally found as a stray and when no one came for her, she found her way to Santa Cruz SPCA. We hope to find her a wonderful home with a person or family who will share their hearts and homes with Darling for the rest of her life.

She is a senior gal who enjoys all aspects of relaxation, whether that is on a soft bed, a patch of shady grass, or next to you on the couch. Darling gets around a little slower these days. The temptation of an open door is gone and her desire to chase a ball has faded but her affinity for touch and affection is as alive as ever. This girl could survive on belly rubs and love. She would be a perfect match for a senior or someone looking for a calm and quiet companion.

Darling is about 20 pounds and has a beautiful deep red coat. She’s recently had a dental and a groom. Due to a previous skin infection from neglected dry eye, Darling has permanent hair loss under both eyes. She will require a simple application of lubricant ointment to both of her eyes twice a day. Darling is truly a special girl with a heart of gold, come and experience the sweetness!
