SLV Drama presents “12 Angry Jurors”

Beginning October 24, Park Hall in Ben Lomond, 9400 Mill Blvd, Ben Lomond

San Lorenzo Valley High School presents the Emmy-award winning Twelve Angry Jurors, Directed by Carly Carruthers. This is a classic drama about twelve individuals forced to decide the guilt or innocence of a young man accused of murdering his father. “Tempers get short, arguments grow heated and the jurors become 12 angry men.”

A jury holds a young man’s life in its hands. Stuck in a sweltering jury room until they reach a decision, 11 of the 12 are ready to convict, but one holdout is far less certain. Tempers flare, arguments grow heated and the 12 angry jurors must reach deeper within to find a common ground that ensures justice.

The boy on trail is accused of murdering his father by stabbing him with a switchblade knife.

It seems that “he doesn’t stand a chance.” The evidence includes eyewitness testimony that does not stand in his favor. As simple conversations turn into arguments that turn into fights, the juror’s personal prejudices become clear; biases and weaknesses alter their decision-making. Their anger, indifference, and unreliable judgments cause them to skew reality — that they ultimately hold a boy’s life in their hands.

Join them in the jury room as these talented young thespians from SLVHS explore the biases, tensions and relationships of these unique characters as they work toward a verdict.

Adapted from Reginald Rose’s original teleplay Twelve Angry Men, which became a hit Broadway play then an Oscar-nominated film starring Henry Fonda, 12 Angry Jurors promises to have you and your companions arguing about the nature of justice — and the role of personal prejudices — long past the final curtain.
