Snow Flurries fall in Scotts Valley

Snow FlurriesWOW! There is only one word for Gabriella’s Snow Day this year … A-mazing!

This year, Team G Childhood Cancer Foundation, a nonprofit established in 2013, just completed the 6th Annual Gabriella’s Snow Day on December 1st at Scotts Valley’s Skypark.

In collaboration with Esther B. Collishaw Memorial Foundation, Ow Family Properties, MJS Packaging, SnoWonder, Arctic Glacier Premium Ice, Scotts Valley Feed, The Home Depot, and Business with Pleasure and lots of volunteers, it was a wildly successful event!

Pono Hawaiian Grill and G’s Mexican Tacos were out in force serving delicious food and Scotts Valley Round Table Pizza generously donated pizza. In addition to fantastical flurries, we had an appearance from Santa Claus, piles of treats, shopping, games, crafts, and amazing raffle prizes all provided by an array of local businesses. And of course SNOW … lots of snow!

In December of 2012, Gabriella Cosner, a four-year-old girl battling a rare form of cancer made one simple wish. She wished for snow on her 5th birthday, which falls on December 24 — Yes, Gabriella wanted a White Christmas. What started with a blog request for information on snow machines from G’s mother Kristin answered by angels Deb Loze and Glenna Heller, soon turned into an avalanche of community support. It is an event that has become a Scotts Valley tradition, which has brought out over 1000 families in the last six years.

Team G CC Foundation was voted the 2014 Scotts Valley Organization of the Year.  To date, they have donated over 1300 Hope Totes and funded over $201,000 to childhood cancer research. 100% of the proceeds are going toward the fight against childhood cancer.
