Soquel Creek Water District General Manager Resigns

In her resignation to the Board of Directors, Ms. Adamson stated that she enjoyed creating a positive working environment for her staff, appreciated the community partnerships she forged, and hopes that the District will continue to successfully move forward in its goals of developing a sustainable water supply. “During my two years as Soquel Creek Water District’s General Manager, important and critical projects have been completed, responsible public policies have been implemented, and organizational foundations were established and recognized,” said Ms. Adamson.

Under Ms. Adamson’s leadership, several noteworthy accomplishments by the District include: partnering with the County of Santa Cruz and Central Water District in hosting a yearlong series of groundwater stakeholder meetings to begin discussions on collaborative groundwater management between public agencies and private well owners; constructing and operating California’s first permitted Chromium-6 treatment plant; receiving the Transparency of Excellence award by the California Special District Association for the District’s efforts in open government practices; facilitating the first cooperative groundwater management agreement with the City of Santa Cruz; building two new inland wells to redistribute pumping further from the coast; achievement of 20% water conservation in 2014; and driving the analysis of possible supplemental supply options for the District. Ms. Adamson was also very instrumental on statewide issues with her legislative policy work as the Association of California Water Agencies’ Zone 5 Legislative Committee representative.


The Board of Directors has accepted Ms. Adamson’s resignation and expressed confidence that the District’s dedicated management team and staff will continue its day-to-day functions as it embarks on a transition period of seeking a new General Manager. Ron Duncan, Conservation Manager will be serving as interim General Manager.

Ms. Adamson was hired by Soquel Creek Water District in July 2013 and contributed a monthly column entitled “Water Wisdom” to Time Publishing Group.
