Spamalot

Mountain Community Theater proudly presents the area premiere of Monty Python’s Spamalot, a musical lovingly ripped off from the film, “Monty Python and the Holy Grail.” The production opens at Ben Lomond’s Park Hall, 9400 Mill Street, on Friday, October 3, and runs through Saturday, October 25.  Friday and Saturday performances are at 8 p.m., with Sunday matinees on Oct 12 & Oct 19 at 2 p.m. General Admission tickets are $25.00, with Student and Senior tickets at $20.00. Tickets are available at www.mctshows.org, or www.brownpapertickets.com.  Renowned MCT veterans, Kathie Kratochvil (Director), and Arindam Krishna Das (Musical Director), lead the production.

Spamalot is written by Eric Idle, with music by John Du Prez and Eric Idle, and was nominated for 14 Tony Awards, winning three, including Best New Musical.  It is a hilarious blend of absurdity and charm, and audiences will embark upon a satirical journey through the Middle Ages with King Arthur and his knights who are searching for the Holy Grail.  Arthur and his men encounter rude Frenchmen, killer rabbits, and the Knights who say “Ni,” on the road to the famed Camelot. Favorite Monty Python treasures include the songs, “I’m Not Dead Yet,” and “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life.”  The production sparkles with witty bantering, legendary characters, and rollicking musical numbers, sure to delight Python fans old and new alike.

The cast includes 30 members including local favorites W. Scott Whisler (King Arthur), Naomi Gorham (The Lady of the Lake), Michael LaMere (Lancelot), and features Karin Babbitt and Karen Solomon as the very funny French Taunters.  Newcomers to MCT include Declan Brennan as Prince Herbert and Gary Edwards as Sir Galahad.

Mountain Community Theater (MCT) is Santa Cruz County’s longest continuously running community theater company. MCT is a member-run non-profit organization that derives its support primarily from performance proceeds and charitable donations. Park Hall is located at 9400 Mill Street in Ben Lomond, just 17 minutes away from downtown Santa Cruz.

This play contains adult language and is intended for mature audiences.
